St. Louis – An Amtrak train derailed Wednesday morning between Hermann and Jefferson City, about 100 miles west of St. Louis.
No one was injured. The train was going from St. Louis to Kansas City.
Amtrak spokesman Marc Magliari says investigators are trying to determine whether the problem was with the train or the track.
"One set of wheels on one car of the train lost contact with the rails," Magliari said. We terminated the train at the scene, and we've chartered a motor coach to take passengers the rest of their way west."
Magliari says about 26 passengers were on board along with four crew members.
Federal regulators are investigating along with officials of Union Pacific, the owner of the track.
