St. Louis, MO. – Congressman Roy Blunt of Missouri lost his bid for House Majority Leader Thursday.

House Republicans elected John Boehner of Ohio to the leadership post. The final count was 122 votes for Boehner and 109 for Blunt.

After the vote, Blunt told reporters that he holds no grudge

"When I started making calls a few weeks ago on the majority leaders race, I decided when I made those calls I wasn't going to make those calls without saying something good about John Boehner," Blunt said. "I might have overdone then just a bit, now that I look back at it. But I'm glad that we both did it that way. We've been good friends a long time."

Blunt had been serving as the Majority Leader since Tom DeLay was forced out after being indicted. Blunt retains his post as the House majority whip.
