Jefferson City, Mo – The Missouri Supreme Court on Tuesday set the date for the state's first execution in 2006.
Michael Taylor is set to die on February 1 for kidnapping, raping, and murdering a Kansas City teenager in 1989.
Taylor and an accomplice have said they were using drugs before they stole Ann Harrison's purse. Harrison was 15 at the time.
Court records say Taylor raped Harrison in the basement of Nunley's mother's house before they stabbed her ten times.
Missouri is one of 38 states with the death penalty. It executed five people in 2005.
