St. Louis, MO – Elections officials are looking into a fresh round of apparently fraudulent names appearing on a petition to recall St. Louis Alderman Jeffrey Boyd. Election workers earlier this month threw out half of the 2,700 signatures gathered calling for a vote to recall Boyd. At least two of the signatures were from people who had been dead for up to six years.
The recall organizers submitted another one-thousand names last week and officials say this batch has even more questionable signatures. Patria Ann Watson says the name of her son, Kenneth, shows up on the petition signed several weeks after his funeral. Elections officials say they are sharing their findings with federal and county prosecutors and will begin going door to door to ask voters on the petition if their signatures are valid.
