St. Louis, MO – Computer forensics experts from the Missouri State Highway Patrol and the FBI are looking into the accident that injured five people in Reynolds County.
Officials believe a malfunctioning computer pumped too much water into the 50-acre reservoir.
The highway patrol's Captain Chris Ricks says while there's no immediate indication of foul play, the team wants to check all possibilities.
"Whatever caused this to happen...whether it was somebody being negligent, whether it was somebody coming into the system, whether it was a programming error...we just want to find out exactly what happened and get a fix to it," Ricks said.
Ricks adds a main concern for the team is ensuring there are no similar problems at other Ameren facilities that may be on the same computer system.
