Group criticizes Medicaid report

By Maria Hickey, KWMU

St. Louis – The Medicaid Reform Commission's draft report on restructuring Missouri's healthcare program for the poor is drawing criticism.

The ten-member legislative commission spent two days reviewing the report.

But Amy Blouin with the Missouri Budget Project says the commission focused on ways to cut services.

Blouin says Missourians would support spending more on Medicaid.

"We know that 79 percent of Missourians in polling done this summer said they strongly support access to healthcare and between 70 and 86 percent of people said they would support revenue increases," Blouin said.

The commission is expected to present a final report to the Legislature in January.
