New York – Cardinals manager Tony LaRussa finished second in voting for National League Manager of the Year Wednesday to Atlanta's Bobby Cox.
Cox easily outdistanced LaRussa, with 152 points in the balloting of baseball writers to LaRussa's 52. Houston's Phil Garner was third with 38 points.
But the award for Cox actually brings him into the same company with LaRussa. They are now the only two managers in history to win the award four times.
In addition to last year, Cox won in 1991 with the Braves and in 1985 with Toronto of the American League.
Cox also joins Dusty Baker as the only three-time winner in the National League.
