A new labor federation born from the breakup of the AFL-CIO says it will concentrate heavily on building new union membership.
The Change to Win Federation held its inaugural meeting Tuesday in St. Louis.
Teamsters Union international president James Hoffa says the federation will devote significant financial resources on organizing, one of the sticking points that caused its rift with the AFL-CIO.
"We are going to put $750 million into organizing," Hoffa said. "We will organize, we will succeed. We will win in the end."
The federation represents more than five million workers.
