St. Louis, MO – Former priest James Beine walked out of prison Thursday a free man.
He was convicted more than three years ago of exposing himself to boys in a school restroom where he worked.
But the Missouri Supreme Court recently threw that out, saying Beine was convicted of breaking an unconstitutional law.
That law has since been reworded.
Beine is a former Roman Catholic priest and grade school counselor.
He was suspended from the priesthood in 1977 over allegations of sexual abuse and formally removed from the priesthood last month.
His latest troubles stemmed from his worker as a counselor at an elementary school in St. Louis. Beine was arrested in 2002, charged with exposing himself to three boys while using a school restroom the previous year.
