St. Louis, MO. – Former U.S. Attorney General Janet Reno was in St. Louis Wednesday to speak at a community college.
The Democrat, who ran for governor in Florida in 2002, says she doubts she would have gotten involved in the Terry Schiavo case if she had won that election.
Reno says she's concerned that politicians took action after the case had gone through the court system.
"I think the better effort is to start at the beginning; hold hearings, address the issue not in the context of one case, one procedure, but in terms of good, sound public policy," Reno said.
Reno says she thinks courts should be able to act without political interference.
The former attorney general was the keynote speaker as part of the Women's History Month activities at St. Louis Community College-Meramec in Kirkwood.
