Washington – Education officials hope federal money will help connect thousands more Missouri classrooms to the Internet.
Most of the state's nearly 61,000 classrooms already have Internet hook-ups.
But officials estimate about 7,200 still don't have a computer with a Web connection.
U.S. Senator Kit Bond says nearly $4 million in federal funding is available to Missouri to improve an existing video satellite system.
That system is used by the National Guard in emergencies and to help soldiers communicate with loved ones. But Bond says schools and hospitals also could benefit from the system.
