St. Louis, MO – St. Louis Mayor Francis Slay is asking Archbishop Raymond Burke to minimize the impact of closures.
In advance of the archdiocese's expected announcement Friday, Mayor Francis Slay met Tuesday night with Archbishop Raymond Burke.
Slay says the get-together was his opportunity to make a final pitch directly to Burke to see what can be done to save as many Catholic churches and schools as possible.
The archdiocese has cited poor attendance and financial difficulties as its reasons for closing some south St. Louis churches.
