St. Louis – Two financial aid drives, one in St. Louis and one nationally, are seeking to provide some financial help for striking nurses at St. John's Mercy Medical Center in suburban St. Louis.

The Greater St. Louis Labor Council has begun its "Five Dollars for the Fight" campaign that officials say has already raised $12,000 dollars.

And nationally, the United Food and Commercial Workers International Union has contacted more than 800 locals seeking contributions.

The strike began December 15.
