St. Louis, MO – A St. Louis police officer who lost his legs in a crash last month will be released today (Thursday) from the Rehabilitation Institute.
Matt Browning has received treatment there since the accident. He was loading a suspect into a police van on Oct. 14 when a suspected drunk driver slammed into a police car. That police car then hit another car, which pinned Browning to the van.
Browning, 25, will get artificial legs and says he looks forward to walking again.
Police say the driver accused in the crash had a blood alcohol level more than twice the legal limit. He's charged with second-degree assault.
