Thirteen Confirmed Dead in Kirksville Crash

By AP/KWMU

Kirksville, Mo. – The Corporate Airlines twin-engine Jet-stream, with two crew members, was carrying doctors and other medical professionals to a conference in Kirksville, in northeast Missouri.

Thirteen were killed and two injured.

Names haven't been released. But relatives and employers identify one survivor as a doctor from Utah, and three of the dead as New York doctors and a photographer from Texas.

The plane clipped treetops before crashing on private property in a wooded area between two fields.

At a news conference this evening Carol Carmody of the National Transportation Safety Board said the cause of the crash is under investigation. Carmody said the board expects to get an initial reading from the flight data recorders tomorrow.
