St. Louis – The legal headaches of suburban St. Louis-based Express Scripts appear to be intensifying.
It's been about two weeks since the company - among the nation's largest pharmacy benefit managers - was accused in a civil lawsuit by New York state of fraud.
Now, at least eight lawsuits seeking class-action status have been launched in St. Louis federal court for shareholders wanting reimbursement for their lost investments in the company.
Among other things, the shareholder cases accuse Express Scripts of artificially inflating its stock price through a series of false or misleading statements.
Express Scripts says it has done nothing wrong. It calls the lawsuits meritless and says its disclosures met all federal regulatory requirements.
