Danton Asks for Review of Detention

(UPI file)

By AP/KWMU

St. Louis – Attorneys for St. Louis Blues player Mike Danton have asked a federal judge to review a decision to hold their client in jail while he awaits trial in an alleged murder conspiracy.

The motion filed this week in U.S. District Court in East St. Louis asks for a prompt review of a May Seventh order holding Danton at the Clinton County, Illinois jail.

Arguments in the motion will be heard May 21st. A status conference is set for Friday morning.

Danton's attorneys want the player released to a hospital for psychiatric treatment and care for an injured shoulder.

Prosecutors say Danton is a danger to the community and a flight risk.

Danton and an alleged accomplice are accused of conspiring to arrange a hit April 14th at Danton's suburban St. Louis apartment on Danton's agent, David Frost.
