St. Louis, MO – The St. Louis Symphony Orchestra is closer to matching a challenge grant offered when the orchestra faced bankruptcy.
The symphony says it has raised $35 million of the $40 million it needs to match the Taylor Family Challenge. The Taylors own St. Louis-based Enterprise Rent-a-Car.
The symphony has until December 31st to raise the remaining $5 million.
The money will help to give the organization a healthy endowment. The Taylor family pledged the money in December 2000.
