Springfield, Ill – Governor Rod Blagojevich today canceled a contract that called for a public relations consultant to polish his image as "a leader in human services reform."
The three-month, $7,500 contract also called for the head of the Department of Human Services, Carol Adams, to be promoted as "a visionary and pioneer."
Blagojevich spokeswoman Rebecca Rausch says the governor's office decided paying the consultant many not be the best way to spend $7,500.
Human Services spokeswoman Tracey Scruggs says the contract's language did not accurately reflect the work that was to be done.
She says Chicago-based Dori Wilson and Associates would have worked on several projects, including promotion of a tax credit for the working poor.
