St. Louis – The St. Louis circuit court is offering a new online database to track certain court proceedings.

The system provides information on all non-confidential civil and criminal cases that are either pending or closed.

St. Louis Circuit Clerk Mariano Favazza says one benefit of the database is that it will help probation and parole officers determine whether defendants have paid their court costs.

"That will help make certain that the municipality, or the city in our sense, receives the money the judge has ordered the defendant to pay because of the costs that we've incurred in prosecuting their criminal action," Favazza said.

The database can be accessed at www.stlcitycircuitcourt.com.
