St. Louis – The St. Louis County Gaming Selection Committee Tuesday approved a plan from Pinnacle Entertainment to build a new casino in South County.
Pinnacle wants to put a $300 million facility on the old National Lead site near the city limits. The company was chosen over Isle of Capri Casinos.
St. Louis County Economic Council president Denny Coleman says Pinnacle's plan offers the most benefit to the local economy.
"We took our time looking at these proposals," Coleman said. "We had three great companies propose, including Harrah's. And I think we really got the best deal for the citizens."
After the deal is finalized, it will still need approval from the County Council and the Missouri Gaming Commission.
