Holden Still Has Most Money of Three Gov. Candidates
Jefferson City, MO – New campaign reports show Missouri Governor Bob Holden has twice as much money as either of his challengers.
Holden raise more than $1 million during the last three months of 2003 and has about $3 million in the bank. His Democratic challenger, Auditor Claire McCaskill, and Republican Matt Blunt both have about $1.5 million on hand.
A University of Missouri political scientist, Rick Hardy, says the numbers show Holden will run a tough campaign. But Hardy says Blunt's also in good shape, especially considering that he isn't expected to face a GOP primary challenge.
Hardy adds McCaskill's $400,000 loan to her campaign shows she is serious about her campaign.
