St. Louis, MO – Saint Louis University now has a place for its new arena even though it doesn't yet have all the money for it. University officials this morning (Thurs) said the east-campus site at Laclede and Compton will house the 13-thousand seat future home to Billikens basketball. SLU Athletic Director Doug Woolard says a place for games concerts and graduation will change student life, "When we moved soccer back to campus we found out the students responded in great fashion. We wound up with, I think, the number one attendance in men's soccer this year and in the top 15 in women's soccer. So, we think students will respond in that fashion."
The site beat out another spot just north of Lindell where SLU would have had to buy too many parcels of land to make it work. The school needs to raise another $35 million before construction can start.
