St. Louis – While construction of the cross-county Metrolink extension continues in St. Louis, plans are already underway for expansion of the light rail system.
Meetings are being held this week to discuss four alternative routes to extend the system through south St. Louis County.
Donna Day, with the East-West Gateway Coordinating Council, says they expect the two-year planning process to generate a lot of public comment.
"There is a lot of controversy about whether we should be going north or south or South County or west," Day said. "You know, we hear that all the time. So, there's controversy about where the line should be but within a certain study area like metro south, yes, it's much more special about specific properties and businesses and alignments."
The next presentation session will held Wednesday evening at Sperreng Middle School from 5 until 8 p.m.
