St. Louis, MO – Negotiations will continue Monday between union workers at the Post-Dispatch and management. On Sunday, union members overwhelmingly voted (353-15) to authorize a strike if current negotiations don't pan out.
The union represents reporters, as well as workers in advertising, classified, circulation, and accounting. Their contract expired a year ago.
The Guild says its members want only a fair contract and to preserve the union. It also says the Post-Dispatch wants to end mandatory union membership, but the union would still have to represent nonunion members.
A Post-Dispatch spokesman says the company is focusing on negotiations and adds there's a low probability of a strike.
