Some Vets Plan to Protest Bush in St. Louis

By M. Sepic, KWMU

St. Louis, Mo. – A veterans group plans to protest US military action in Iraq Tuesday when President Bush speaks to the American Legion in St. Louis.

President Bush will talk about Iraq and the war on terrorism, but members of Veterans for Peace say the US should give control of Iraq to the UN.

World War II vet Lincoln Grahlfs says an international military coalition is needed to govern Iraq effectively.

"We have to do it as the world community doing it together, making decisions together for the benefit of everybody. I thought that's what we were fighting for in the war that I was in," Grahlfs said.

The veterans plan to demonstrate with the Instead of War Coalition. Protestors want to get closer to the President than they have during past visits.
