St. Louis, MO – St. Louis Archbishop Justin Rigali is listed in good condition after having his prostate removed Monday morning.
Rigali underwent the surgery at St. Mary's Medical Center after doctors found early stage prostate cancer.
Urologist Robert Feit says there were no complications, and the Archbishop will likely be released later this week
"There were no problems during the procedure," Feit said. "I've seen him now in the recovery room; he's doing quite well. He's stable, and everything went
as expected."
Rigali is expected to recover fully in four to six weeks. Doctors say the cancer did not spread beyond the prostate.
