St. Louis – The St. Louis Science Center is receiving federal funding to expand its focus on biotechnology and life sciences education.
Surrounded by displays explaining the complexity of DNA, U.S. Senator Kit Bond announced the science center will receive $775,000 to build new exhibits and galleries dedicated to life sciences education. Bond said the biotechnology field is growing so quickly that science is outpacing public understanding.
"People need to understand what biotechnology is all about and what it's going to do," Bond said. "And the science center is ideally located, situated and prepared to do that."
The money will also be used for outreach efforts such as teacher training and school curriculum programs.
