St. Louis, MO – Health care providers in the St. Louis area say the area's trauma centers are facing a funding crisis.
Emergency medical personnel, physicians, and religious leaders are met Friday to discuss ways to keep the centers open.
Dr. Kevin Mitchell directs trauma services at De Paul Health Center in North St. Louis County. He says his Level-2 trauma center could close this summer when state funding runs out.
Last year DePaul cared for more than 900 trauma patients. Christian Hospital closed its north county trauma center in 1999.
