St. Louis, MO – St. Louis mayor Francis Slay says a federal grant to revitalize a once thriving retail area in south St. Louis is a positive step forward.
Slay joined Missouri Congressman Richard Gephardt at the former Famous Barr site at Kingshighway and Chippewa Wednesday, where Gephardt announced an $810,000 economic development grant for the site. Slay says redeveloping the Southtown area is a major priority for the city.
The grant will be used for new lighting, sidewalks, curbs and outdoor benches for a new shopping center.
