St. Louis, MO – Missouri Governor Bob Holden says it's essential to close corporate tax loopholes that do not expand the economy but instead force small businesses to pay more than their fair share. Holden hosted a budget summit in St. Louis Tuesday to talk about how the state can better weather its fiscal crisis. Several people testified on behalf of higher education, which sustained sweeping budget cuts this year. St. Louis Community College chancellor Henry Shannon says his organization impacts the region by more than $3-billion each year.
Others who testified at the meeting included representatives from the St. Louis RCGA, the Cardinals and Citizens for Missouri's Children.
