St. Louis, MO – The roads aren't the only places being clogged up by the recent weather in St. Louis. Chunks of ice are clogging the Mississippi River in the St. Louis area, and local river-using businesses are feeling the sting.
The Army Corps of Engineers is flushing ice out at the Melvin Price Lock and Dam at Alton, Illinois, and in the Chain of Rocks area of North St. Louis.
The ice in some places is eight to ten inches thick, and several companies are staying off the water, concerned the ice could damage their barges.
