St. Louis – Former Riverview Gardens School District superintendent Henry Williams pleaded no contest Monday to charges of felony theft.

He entered the plea just before jury selection was set to begin. He also pleaded no contest to three counts of evading Missouri income taxes.

Sentencing is set for Nov. 14. The charges carry a maximum penalty of 37 years in prison.

Williams was accused of misdirecting more than $100,000 of district money into his life insurance fund, double dipping on travel expenses, and underreporting his income.

Williams was fired last year after five years as superintendent.
