St. Louis – A community group is criticizing the decision to let a St. Louis County police officer to remain on duty even as he faces charges for allegedly pointing a gun at a parking attendant.
Officer Ryan O'Connor was charged with misdemeanor third-degree assault for the March 17 incident.
Authorities say he pulled the gun and used a racial slur when the attendant asked him to move his vehicle during a St. Patrick's Day parade in St. Louis city.
The Coalition Against Police Crimes and Repression said the officer's temper appears to be out of control and puts the public at risk.
The group said O'Connor should be placed on desk duty or suspended until the investigation is over.
