SAINT LOUIS, MO – Several districts in the St. Louis area may been supplied beef recalled by the US Department of Agriculture. That's according to the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education's School Food Service Director.
The districts include Ladue, Kirkwood, Fox C-6 and St. Charles City Schools. After being contacted, all school districts say they have checked their supplies and put any beef from the dates and lots affected on hold.
Shirley Derby is with Chartwells, which provides food service for St. Charles City Schools.
We personally checked each of the cases to see if they matched any of the lots and dates on the list. And none of them did match, said Derby who is dining service director. But we did have some extra sleeves that were not inside of a case. And those we did put on hold just because we could not guarantee that they were not those lot numbers.
Ladue Schools says they identified 54 out of 68 cases as having lot numbers on the list of concern. In a letter to parents, Fox C-6 says they put beef on hold as a precaution after being notified of the possible recall earlier this month.
The USDA says the meat likely does not pose any hazards to human health
