JACKSON, Mo. – The court hearing for a man accused of a string of murders is being delayed until next week.
Cape Girardeau County prosecutor Morley Swingle says 63-year-old Timothy Krajcir will not be extradited to Missouri in time to appear in court Thursday.
Krajcir has been charged with killing five women in Cape Girardeau in 1977 and 1982. Police have said he confessed to the Cape Girardeau killings and three others. In exchange, prosecutors agreed not to seek the death penalty.
Krajcir is being held in Illinois, where he is serving time for killing a Southern Illinois University student in 1982.
Krajcir is believed to be responsible for the deaths of nine women in four states in the late 1970s and early 1980s.
