Forsee likely to be next UM president

By Maria Hickey, KWMU

St. Louis, MO. – Sources tell The Associated Press that former Sprint Nextel chairman Gary Forsee is the next University of Missouri president.

The university said today that curators will meet Thursday morning in Columbia to resolve the hiring's final details before introducing Missouri's 22nd president.

And while several curators contacted by the AP declined comment, two sources identified the 57-year-old Forsee as the incoming president.

The sources asked not to be identified because they are not authorized to publicly discuss the hire.

Forsee is a 1972 graduate of the University of Missouri-Rolla who also serves on his alma mater's board of trustees.

In October the Kansas City area-resident was ousted as chairman, president and CEO of Sprint Nextel, the nation's third-largest wireless carrier.
