SIUE students accused of battery with freshly baked cookies

By AP/KWMU

Edwardsville, Ill. – Two students at Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville have been jailed on charges that they kidnapped, paddled and burned a man with freshly baked cookies after a drug deal went bad.

Madison County prosecutors charged 23-year-old Rosario James and 20-year-old Jordan Sallis yesterday with aggravated kidnapping, robbery and battery.

Both have been jailed in Edwardsville on $150,000 apiece.

Authorities say three men went to James' house on Friday night to buy marijuana, but two of the men grabbed the drugs and fled, leaving the third behind.

That's when the suspects allegedly held that man and tortured him into finding money for the stolen drugs.

Investigators say the captive later managed to escape.
