Missouri's sales tax holiday for back-to-school items begins Friday and lasts through Sunday.
The annual event exempts purchases of clothing, school supplies, and personal computers from the state sales tax.
But there are limitations. "The personal computer and peripheral devices cannot exceed 3500 dollars," noted Maura Browning, with the State Department of Revenue. Also, notebooks, calculators, and other school supplies can't cost more than $50 per item, and clothing purchases can't exceed $100 per item.
St. Louis, Kansas City and St. Joseph will also suspend local sales taxes, though most cities and counties will not.
