Jefferson City, Mo. – The leader of House Democrats in Jefferson City is dropping his support for Governor Matt Blunt's college construction plan.
The governor wants to use $350 million dollars from MOHELA, Missouri's student loan agency, for building projects at public colleges and universities.
But last week, a financial analyst who previously endorsed the deal urged that it instead be put on hold because of uncertainty over federal student loan policies.
House Minority Leader Jeff Harris, of Columbia, cited those concerns Monday in telling Blunt he no longer supports the plan.
Harris had been one of the few Democrats to openly back the Republican governor's proposal.
