St. Louis, MO. – Despite delays due to recent winter storms, work on the Highway 40 reconstruction project is scheduled to begin in earnest in just a few weeks.
The $535 million project will include the rebuilding of all pavement, bridges and interchanges on I-64 between Kingshighway in St. Louis City to Spoede Road in St. Louis County.
Dan Galvin with Gateway Constructors says they will start closing lanes and ramps at the I-170 interchange in mid-March.
"Start thinking of those alternate routes, trying different ways to get around so that when we do have things restricted more severely, you'll already know how to get around them," Galvin said.
This week, crews are conducting soil sampling on I-64 during the overnight hours near the Kingshighway and Tamm overpasses.
