St. Louis, MO – Members of the Service Employees International Union Local 2000 rallied outside Beauvais Manor on the Park Sunday.
SEIU says its members had ratified a three-year contract last spring, but that incoming management made changes to it.
Union local president Barbara Black says the workers are concerned they may lose 100% employer-paid health care.
"They're (managers) not addressing the concerns about the health insurance," Black said. "I think that they want to buy time and get the employees unhappy and get rid of the union."
But Beauvais Manor consultant John Gazzoli says there's been no contract since the facility was sold last March, and that take backs haven't even been thought of.
"There's been no possible contemplation of cutting any wages or any benefits," Gazzoli said. "I don't know where they're getting that, and as far as this demonstration, it's my understanding that not one employee of Beauvais Manor participated in it."
The dispute is currently before the National Labor Relations Board.
