The St. Louis Zoo has created a new outdoor space for its chimpanzees and orangutans.
It's called "Fragile Forest" and it includes rocky cliffs, trees, brush, and even a waterfall. The two combined areas come to nearly 20,000 square feet and cost about $7 million.
It opens to the public on Friday but the chimps and orangutans---some of whom have never been outdoors---are already getting used to their new home.
KWMU's Maria Hickey took a tour with the zoo's curator of primates---Ingrid Porton. To hear the interview, click on the 'listen' icon above.
