St. Louis, MO. – Security personnel evacuated a concourse at Lambert Airport Tuesday morning because of concern over an item in a passenger's luggage.
Guards found a long metal object in a man's bag just before 11 o'clock.
But authorities found only a long socket wrench.
Deputy Airport Director Gerard Slay says guards determined the passenger had a legitimate reason for carrying the tool.
"Our airport police department contacted his employer," Slay said. "They verified that he does use this type of equipment in the performance of his job duties and St. Louis County Bomb and Arson arrived on the scene and cleared the area."
Slay says there were no flight delays as a result.
The 'A' concourse was closed for about an hour. Travelers were moved to another screening station while the situation was resolved.
