Clayton, MO – A St. Louis County judge has tossed out parts of a lawsuit over the funding of the new Cardinals stadium. But the crux of the suit remains.
Judge Barbara Wallace dismissed as defendants two members of the Coalition Against Public Funding for Stadiums, saying there was no need to name them separately.
Left standing are efforts by stadium supporters to void Proposition A, which passed in St. Louis County in November. It would require voter approval before public money can be spent on a sports facility.
Backers of the project want that applied only to future projects. The coalition claims Prop. A means the county will need to get voter approval to make payments on the bonds it sold to raise money for the stadium.
