Jefferson City, MO. – The number of methamphetamine labs seized in Missouri may be leveling off.
So far, the Missouri Highway Patrol reports the numbers of labs found this year should be about the same as last year's; between 2,800 and 2,900.
Patrol Sergeant Sid Conklin says the state has spent a lot of time and effort on the problem
"It's at a point right now that we don't know how much more our officers can do as far as go out and dismantle any more of these labs and seize any more of these precursors," Conklin said.
He says law enforcement awareness and laws restricting the sale of some of the drug's ingredients have helped slow the trend.
Missouri consistently seizes more labs than any other state.
