St. Louis, MO – Three Cardinals players got Gold Glove awards on Wednesday for their great defensive play this year.
Outfielder Jim Edmonds won his fifth straight and seventh overall Gold Glove. Third baseman Scott Rolen also got his fifth straight and sixth overall. Catcher Mike Matheny picked up his second straight and third overall.
Managers and coaches throughout the league pick the Gold Glove winners, though they're not allowed to pick players on their own teams.
All three of the Cardinals earned $50,000 bonuses for the honor.
Gold Gloves have been presented since 1957 by Rawlings.
