Marion, Ill. – A tour bus from Chicago overturned late Sunday night near the southern Illinois town of Marion.
At least 37 people were hurt, but none of the injuries are life-threatening.
Illinois State Police dispatcher Jamie Moak says 42 people were on board when the bus went off Interstate 57 just after midnight.
Authorities say the passengers were residents of Tennessee and Mississippi who were returning home after participating in a prostate cancer fund-raiser in Chicago organized by Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan.
Hospital officials say 24 passengers were taken to a hospital in Marion, where most were in stable condition. Another 11 went to Herrin Hospital, where mostly minor injuries were reported. Another two went to a Carbondale hospital.
A similar accident involving a Chicago-based charter bus killed 14 people and injured 16 others on October Ninth in Arkansas.
