St Louis, MO – Three Cardinals will help represent the National League at the upcoming All-Star Game.
Third baseman Scott Rolen, first baseman Albert Pujols, and shortstop Edgar Renteria were named starters for the upcoming All-Star game. That's because they each received the most fan votes of any National Leaguer at those positions. Rolen, in fact, got more votes than any player in the National League. He's the first third baseman to ever get the most NL votes
It will also be the first time in 22 years that an All-Star team's infield has three players on it from the same team. The last team to have three infielders start an All-Star game was the 1982 Phillies, who were represented by third baseman Mike Schmidt, first baseman Pete Rose, and second baseman Manny Trillo.
Rolen, Pujols, and Renteria were all starters last year, but Pujols started in the outfield.
The game is July 18th in Houston.
