St. Charles, MO – Some Lindenwood University students in St. Charles might not have to pay back all their loans.
The school said yesterday it will forgive as much as $4,000 in loans to students who agree to teach in rural Missouri.
Lindenwood's President, Dennis Spellman, says the school is offering the program because it wants to attract more students from rural Missouri who want to be teachers.
He says he hopes they'll then return to their hometowns to work after college.
Lindenwood already offers a program where families can trade agricultural products to help pay for their education.
The school also has not raised tuition in three years.
